Ghanaians warned against keeping monies at home

Kumasi, July 27, GNA - Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Patrick Timbillah, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has advised Ghanaians against keeping huge sums of money at home. He said this could prevent them from losing their money to armed robbers.

Kumasi, July 27, GNA - Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Patrick Timbillah, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, has advised Ghanaians against keeping huge sums of money at home. He said this could prevent them from losing their money to armed robbers. DCOP Timbillah was speaking at the launch of MTN Mobile Money, an innovative money transfer system, introduced by Scancom Ghana Limited, operators of the Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN). The system allows subscribers to send money via their mobile phones, by inserting a Mobile Money SIM card, which gives details of vital information about the recipient and the sender. The recipient would receive text message to proceed to an MTN authorized bank or a designated retail point to cash the money. DCOP Timbillah commended Scancom for introducing the system that would facilitate business transactions among Ghanaians. Mr. Sam Addo, Senior Manager of Scancom in-charge of Ashanti, Brong-Ahafo and the three Northern regions, said the system had been so designed to assist subscribers transfer money without stress. 28 July 09
