Bolgatanga, Sept. 10, GNA - An Assistant Director of Education at the Bolgatanga District Directorate, Mr Joachim Akagre has called on girls to make education their priority.

Mr Akagre made the call at the close of a four-day Regional Girls' Camp for 40 girls drawn from Builsa, Kassena-Nankana, Bolgatanga and Bongo Districts of the Upper East Region. He commended Action Aid for sponsoring the workshop that enabled girls from the deprived communities to learn through excursions and lectures.

Mr Akagre called on heads of institutions to emulate Action Aid by organizing educational excursions for their students to broaden their horizon. Mr Mohammed Saani, Co-ordinator of Action Aid's Educational Programmes, said the outfit had embarked on initiatives in partnership with District Assemblies and the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that by 2015 all children particularly girls, had access to quality primary education.

Mr Saani said where there were insufficient resources at the disposal of the Assemblies and GES, Action Aid would channel resources to achieve education for all at the local level.
