Give Mahama a second chance and be happy forever - Alex Mould

Mr. Alex Mensah Mould, former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) believes former President John Dramani Mahama deserves a second chance by Ghanaians 2020 to govern the country.

He is of the view that prior to his exit in 2016, there were certain measures he put in place to ameliorate the sufferings of Ghanaians but was voted out only for those inputs to bear fruits and being enjoyed by the country unknown to many because it has been portrayed as though they were achieved under the current dispensation.

Though he admits Mr. Mahama has a greater chance of winning the 2020 polls, he wants Ghanaians to offer him another chance to change things for them indicating that the current administration is underachieving.

“Everything we are seeing today is as a result of a lot of work done in the past. Mahama stands a good chance. Everybody needs a second chance and what you do when you have a second chance is you put is put a performance improvement plan in place and exactly how you are going to execute it this time…so I think he does need a second chance”, he told Lexis Bill in an interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com.

Asked to assess the performance of the former President under his regime, he said “I definitely was impressed with his job as President of Ghana. You have to understand what the objectives are and what the situation was when a president comes in. It is not easy to measure two presidents without understanding what situation the economy was in…what situation he found himself in. What situation the drivers like the oil price and inflation in the world, and what the geopolitical issues were. If you put that in perspective then you can actually measure two leaders. But you have to understand there were challenges, there were Dumsor, oil process dropping from $130, 140 all the way to $40. Government did not have revenue and despite what strategy you have, you have to revisit it and look to see how you are going to change your tactical imperatives to meet these challenges. Leadership is about making those big and bold paradigm changing decisions. If you cannot do that as a leader you definitely would have failed your people”
