There is an urgent need for the government and private entities to give more internship opportunities to students to enable them develop soft skills before they graduate from tertiary levels. That is what Human Resource Manager for Kumasi-Based Golden Bean Hotel, Mr. Kofi Agyekum has suggested.

He explains that, if more internships are provided to students, it would go a long way to help the country bring out ready to work graduates with in-built soft skills.

“Giving students internships opportunity whilst in school is a great way to help them develop soft-skills to make them employable." he said.

Mr. Agyekum further explained that, a student that undergoes internships cannot be the same as someone who is only endowed in academics.

Mr. Agyekum emphasised that, the former would always be a better choice for an employer.

Addressing participants at the No Business As Usual hub’s Ignite 5.0 workshop, Mr. Agyekum also entreated them to develop good interpersonal relationships with everyone they come into contact with.

He said the best way out is to build stronger network with people everywhere and keep company with them.

“If you advertise a vacant job position, a lot of people would apply of whom only one person would be needed out of the numerous applicants. You may ask why is the one person selected? it is because he has a specific trait needed. I can assure you out of 100 marks needed for a job position, only 40 percent forms your qualification the 60 percent forms your attitude and reference.

After all, the attitude is what would take you to places.” he added.
