Accra, June 30, GNA - Dr Edward Mahama, the People's National Convention (PNC) Presidential Candidate, has added his voice to the need for the media to give political parties fair coverage to enable them get a fair chance of getting elected. He said the media in Ghana is seen as a pacesetter for national development and could have influence on people especially during election year.
He, therefore, stressed the need for the media to pay attention to the visions and aspirations of the all political parties to help the citizens make good decision about who to choose to govern the country. Dr Mahama said this at a rally held at La Paz, a suburb of Accra, on Sunday and explained further that the media had the tendency to protect incumbency by giving them more coverage at the expense of other opposition parties.
"The media was responsible for the change of government in the 2000 elections," he said and added that the media felt the need for a change in government and used their powerful medium to influence the populace.
He called on Ghanaians to vote for the PNC since the party had been consistence with her political message of increasing Ghana's productivity and development strides.
