Two-time presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has paid tribute to Gladys Asmah, a founder member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“As a founding member and a stalwart in the New Patriotic Party, she served as a role model and a source of inspiration to many and will be sorely missed.”
Mrs Asmah died on Tuesday, June 24 at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital after a long illness.
Nana Addo expressed sadness over the death of the first Minister for the Women and Children’s Affairs and Fisheries ministries, revealing that he visited her while on admission at the Hospital.
Nana Addo said Mrs Asmah played a “very important role” during the fight for the reinstatement of multi-party democracy in Ghana and the formation of NPP.
“The achievements she chalked…were remarkable. She was an excellent and trustworthy colleague.”
He expressed condolences to her family.
“Hers was a life well lived.”
