Global Impact Foundation assists girl born without anus

Accra, March 25, GNA- Global Impact Foundation (GIF), a charity organization of the Global Evangelical Church on Wednesday presented a cash of 7.3 million cedis to a seven-year-old girl who was born without anus to enable her to undergo a major operation at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The victim, Sitsofe Damassah has for the past six years being defecating through a provisional hole provided by specialist surgeons through her stomach.

Reverend Gershon Adzopa, Parish Pastor of the Mamprobi branch of the church (Redemption Chapel), and Director of GIF made the presentation on behalf of the foundation at a brief ceremony held at the Agape Chapel of the Global Evangelical Church at Ashaley Botwe, near Accra.

According to Rev. Adzokpa, the foundation was touched by an appeal launched by the parents of little Sitsofe through their head pastor.

" Though she needs only three million, five hundred thousand cedis to undergo the actual operation, the excess is to cater for all other incidental expenses and perhaps help her start her education," he added.

Rev Adzokpa lamented that at seven, the victim had not gone to school due to her unfortunate situation saying, the foundation had adopted and would educate her just after she recovers fully from the operation so she could accomplish her destiny.

Rev. Adzokpa said GIL was formerly EPDRA (Evangelical Presbyterian Development and Relief Agency), which was established by the then E.P. Church of Ghana now Global Evangelical Church as an NGO to provide assistance to people in need.

He said the NGO had earlier on, assisted the Osu Children's Home. It has also organized a number of educational fora for the youth on the dreadful HIV/AIDS, adding that the foundation hoped to seek external funding to enable it to reach out to the needy in society.

Rev. Seth K. Avotri, Pastor in charge of Agape Chapel at Ashaley Botwe on behalf of the parents thanked the foundation, the Adonai and the Agape Chapels for their particular involvement and assistance. He appealed to the church members to make their monthly contributions of two thousand cedis each in order to sustain the foundation.

Mr. Francis Damassah, a corn mill operator and Madam Norah Kagatse a corn dough seller, parents of the victim, could not hide their joy, and expressed their sincerest thanks to the foundation for bringing hope back into their lives.

They promised to use the money for its intended purpose.
