God's Kingdom Society celebrates Christmas in October

Accra, Oct. 12, GNA - God Kingdom Society will celebrate the birth of Christ during the month of October instead of the normal December 25 as all Christians do.

The Vice President of the society Brother Samuel C. Nwaeke told a press conference on Thursday in Accra that December 25 was not the birthday of Jesus Christ.

Quoting the Bible, he said when Jesus was born shepherds were out in the field watching their flock, which could not have been possible in the cold winter month of December.

He explained that in the book of Chronicles, which talks about the course of the High Priest of the Jews (rotation of the priesthood), the course of Abijah falls between June and July.

Brother Nwaeke said the time of Zachariah, the High Priest of Israel, fell under the course of Abijah, which was in June. He, therefore, concluded that the conception of John the Baptist took place around that time and he was born in April.

He argued that if John the Baptist was six months older than Jesus Christ then his birth would most possibly be in October and not December.

Brother Nwaeke said the exact date of Christ's birth in October could not be found anywhere in the Bible or in history. The celebration of Christ's birthday would, therefore, be celebrated throughout the month of October.

He said God's Kingdom Society would celebrate the birth of Christ, which they call the Freedom Day, at the Accra Polytechnic Auditorium on every Sunday of the month of October.
