“God will just call me, when the time is right”

Ghana’s third elected President under the current Fourth Constitutional Republic, Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills, whose untimely death while in office shook the foundation of the nation exactly a year today was said to have been predicted by the late president himself.

Privileged information disclosed yesterday by former Director of Communications during the Mills’ presidency, Koku Anyidoho, Professor Mills told his close associates that: “When the time is right, and I have to go, God will just call me, there would be no waste of time.”

Koku Anyidoho, who perceives the deceased president as a father and draws a lot of inspiration for changing his life to humble himself, was speaking on Asempa FM’s political analysis programme Ekosii Sen on Tuesday.

He said Professor Mills’ prediction of his death was “precisely what happened”, describing it as “unbelievable,” recalling that the late president’s comment about his own death was a reaction heard by close persons around him when issues about his health became topical, as well as rumours of his death were peddled in the country.

“I am sure he is very happy” by the way he died, Koku Anyidoho remarked, revealing sorrowfully that former President Mills have been assuring him in all his dreams that he (Mills) was doing well in his eternal rest.

“In fact, I keep seeing him in my dreams. Every now and then he comes up in my dream and he is speaking to you telling you 'thank you for the work you did for me, don’t grief too much I am comfortable and happy at where I am, just make sure you continue to work hard and serve your country well'.”

He said peace, humility, humour, selfless service to the nation, show of appreciation and remorse to persons he offended, are some of the traits he learned from Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.

‘Controversy erupts over exact hour mills died’

Controversy is, however, still brewing over the exact time the late President Mills exited to the world beyond as people are aggressively demanding to know the exact time the Asomdwehene died.

From President Mahama to party foot soldiers, discordant tunes have been sung over the exact time President Mills kicked the bucket. While the president puts the time in the afternoon, 2pm, other government communicators speculate he died in the morning at 10am, whilst others also say he died at noon.

Already government adverts making the rounds in the media has announced that there is going to be a wreath-laying ceremony at the exact time the man died on the tomb of the late president- now christened Asomdwe park, but with the controversy still lurking over the time of the man’s departure, tongues are wagging on the exact time the wreath-laying would be held.

“We wish to be a part of the wrath-laying ceremony, but we are confused as to the exact time because as we speak, nobody has told us the exact time the president passed on, and if you are not careful you may go to the Asomdwe park only to be disappointed with the time,” a worried old man who wanted to be at the park today told this paper after gulping a calabash of palm wine yesterday.
