National President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) Christian Addai-Poku has lamented the inability of government to negotiate with labour over the second-tier pension scheme but rather to resort to a court order to get them back to work.
Mr Addai-Poku said the court order does not resolve the issues over the pensions.
Government on Tuesday, November 4 called off a meeting with the 12 labour unions, claiming it has not finalised its proposals yet.
“We just hope that there will be another time for us to meet to discuss this issue,” Mr Addai-Poku told TV3’s Daniel Opoku on Wednesday, November 5.
“Nobody is happy,” he stressed.
The striking unions – Forum for Public Sector Registered Pension Schemes Workers – were forced to return to work by a writ filed by the Attorney General on behalf of government.
“What is more painful to us is how we have been forced back to work in relation to the pension issue.”
The unions have threatened to embark on another industrial action within one week if government does not find an amicable solution to the impasse.
