Executives of the National Democratic Congress in the Gomoa Central constituency have dragged their parliamentary candidate, Kwame Deen Yawson, to the Central Regional Secretary over allegations of misconduct.

In a petition signed by the constituency secretary, Kobina Hackman Aidoo, and sighted by GhanaWeb, the constituency executives levelled a number of allegations, including his decision to sidestep the executives in the prosecution of his campaign.

According to the constituency executives, Kwame Deen Yawson’s preference for branch executives instead of them for his campaign activities is a departure from the norm, which they believe will hinder the party’s chances in the upcoming elections.

The executives also claimed that Deen Yawson’s continued stay abroad, with barely three months until the elections, means he is yet to arrive in the country to lead campaign activities.

They are also dissatisfied with his decision to go contrary to some suggestions proposed and agreed on by the leadership.

There is also concern among the executives that certain public statements from him and his team against some leading members of the party in the constituency could affect morale and unity.

They are urging the regional executives to take drastic actions to address the matter, as the conduct of the parliamentary candidate could scupper the party’s chances in the December 7 elections.

The Gomoa Central Constituency in the Central Region has become one of the most interesting and talked-about constituencies in the lead-up to the December 7 elections due to the battle among Kwame Deen Yawson of the NDC, Naana Eyiah Quansah of the NPP, who is the incumbent, and Kwame Obeng Asare, alias A Plus, who is a popular musician and social commentator.
