Chiefs and citizens of Gomoa in the Central Region have taken a swipe at the current MP for Gomoa West, Hon. Joe Hackman for his inability to champion a course of publicity and development of the area as his predecessor did.
The chiefs numbering 23 have expressed their profound anger against the current MP and decided to honour the former MP Hon Ama Benyiwah Doe for her relentless efforts to championing the cause of Gomoa.
At a meeting held last week among the chiefs and people of Gomoa West the former MP would be duly honoured. But would also plead with her (Ms. Ama Benyiwah Doe) to come and reside in the area to enable her continue to use her acquired experience to contribute to the development of the area to stage a come back in 2008.
Among the issues raised at the meeting was to call on the former MP to desist from focusing too much time on her NDC party's activities instead of the development of the area. One of the sources openly told this reporter that, the name of Gomoa came to be know both locally and international, and even on the internet through her efforts.
According to the source the date and place to honour Ama Benyiwah Doe for he relentless effort would be made publicly known when the chiefs and the citizens meet in the first week of May. The Free Press has also learnt that the decision to honour the MP was the result of the inability of the current MP of the area, Hon Joe Hackman to take initiative to develop the area.
Meanwhile, the Free Press has learnt that Hon. Joe Hackman has started paying the amount he owed the polling agents. According to the news, instead of the ?250,000.00 due to be paid to every five members per polling station he is paying ?140,000.
