Gomoa East Health workers to wear name tags

Gomoa Buduatta (C/R), June 12, GNA - Gomoa East District Director of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Mr Samuel Sosi has cautioned the people not to seek medical attention from persons who parade themselves as health workers, without wearing name tags. "Treat people who come to you as health workers without name tags as impersonators and quacks," Mr Sosi stressed, during the launch of the "Wearing of Name Tags by Health Workers" exercise, introduced by the District Directorate of the GHS at Gomoa Buduatta. He noted that the directorate introduced the measure as a step to eliminate quacks who are frustrating quality health delivery services in the area.

Mr Sosi said the measure would also facilitate public identification of health service providers. "At times when one visits a health facility, he or she finds it difficult to differentiate between a service provider who is not in uniform, from a care receiver," he remarked. He said wearing of name tags would also enhance efficiency since it would compel health workers to be courteous and dedicated in the discharge of their duties. The Health Director appealed to the people to offer the necessary assistance and co-operation to health workers in the discharge of their duties.

"Now that you can easily identify them, you must give them the necessary support to make health delivery service a big success in the district," he said.
