Gomoa Jukwa SDA SSS to increase the intake of girls

Gomoa Jukwa (C/R), Sept 18, GNA - The Gomoa Jukwa Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School, near Agona Swedru is to increase the admission of girls from 200 to 350 this academic year.

This is to offer an opportunity to more girls who completed Junior Secondary School (JSS) in the Gomoa, Agona and Awutu-Effutu- Senya districts of the Central region to gain admission to Senior Secondary School to curb the incidence of school dropouts in the area. Pastor Richard Ntriakwa, Swedru District Pastor and Director of the school announced this at the close of five-day camp meeting for members of the Church under the theme, "United in witness of truth" at Gomao Jukwa.

He said the school admitted 200 girls last academic year and had decided to increase the intake this year to enable parents who could gain admission for their daughters to do so.

The Women Ministry of the Church also donated a quantity of used clothing, soap and food items worth two million cedis to the aged at Gomoa Jukwa as part of the activities of camp meeting. Pastor Ntriakwa stressed that the Church had embarked on an outreach programme to preach the gospel to the people in rural areas. Madam Mary Mills of the Kwesi Twikrom branch of the Church donated two sets of drums to the Adventist Youth Society to promote their evangelism programme.

Mr W K Brown, Deputy Director of the Adventist Development and Relief Agency Ghana, called on Christians to leave beyond reproach to enhance peace and stability.

He urged the Church members to desist from acts that were not in line with the Christian faith. More than 200 people were baptised into the Church at the camp meeting.
