Gomoa Oboasi installs chief

Gomoa Obuasi (C/R), Oct. 14, GNA - The elders and people of Gomoa Obuasi in the Gomoa District of the Central Region, now have a new chief, with a stool name Nana Afrodua Esseu.

The new chief, known in private life as Mr Abraham Evans Yaw Otu, 50, is a Swedru-based, a herbalist.

Performing the installation rites, Nana Afrodua, Okatakyi Nyanful Krampa X, Omanhene of Gomoa Ajumako Traditional Area, urged him to always seek counsel from his elders and opinion leaders. The Omanhene charged Nana Afrodua to also seek the welfare of the people and initiate projects to develop the area.

Nana Afrodua thanked the Omanhene and his elders and assured them of his support.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency later, the new chief said development and progress had eluded the town and its surrounding villages for long, adding "I must move fast, with a dint of hard work and diligence to promote an enabling environment towards the provision of social amenities to enhance the living standards of the people." He said he would build a clinic to improve the community's health delivery system, as well as, a school to encourage the education of children and also curb child-labour.

Ohenemaa Aso III, the Queenmother, appealed to the community to rally behind the new chief to develop the area. They should also plant trees not only to beautify the town, but also to check windbreaks.
