Gomoa Abrekum (C/R), Sept 23, GNA - The Gomoa West District Chief Executive, (DCE) Mr Theophilus Aidoo-Mensah, has cautioned the youth against embarking on activities which could scare investors from the District. He said the government regarded the private sector as the engine of growth, therefore, investors must be welcomed and encouraged to open-up the economy of the District. However, negative activities, such as pilfering materials for projects discourage investors. Mr Aidoo-Mensah gave the warning at a sod cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of work on a three-star hotel being constructed along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean between Abrekum and Apam in the Gomoa West District.
Ms Christa A. Ring, a German investor in the hospitality industry, is putting up the hotel.
Mr Aidoo-Mensah said investors were needed to support the government in creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth. Apart from creating jobs for the youth, the project, he said, would involve the tarring of the road from Otsew to Abrekum to make the facility accessible to visitors. He assured investors that the Assembly would do everything to protect their interest and urged the chiefs and land owners to ensure that lands released to investors are free from litigation. Ms Ring pledged to abide by the terms in the agreement for the release of the land and assured that her social responsibility to the two communities would be honoured when the hotel starts functioning.
