Gonja chiefs suspends visitations to all palaces

The Gonja Traditional Council has suspended all visitations and traditional meetings at Palaces.

This was known in a statement issued on Monday 16th March 2020 and signed by the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional area and Vice- President of the Gonja Traditional Council Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor (II).

The statement further suspended gatherings at funeral houses and festivals until further notice in the Gonja traditional area following the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s address on Sunday 15th March, 2020 directing that all public gatherings such as funerals, conferences, meetings and schools be suspended due to the Coronavirus.

The statement signed by the Buipewura said it will gladden his heart if all paramount Chiefs adhere to this and act accordingly, to ensure public safety.

It said the Council in collaboration with Ghana Health Service will soon deploy qualified personnel to go round and sensitize people within Savannah Region and beyond.

Good morning, following the President’s address last night directing that all public gatherings such as funerals, conferences, meetings and schools be suspended due to the CORONA VIRUS. HRM Buipewura Jinapor (II) in consultation with President of The Gonja Traditional Council Prof. Yagbonwura Jakpa Sulemana Tuntumba Bore-Essa I King and Overlord of Gonja Kingdom. all are advice to strictly adhere to this safety precaution and directive issued by the president of the Republic of Ghana. The general public is therefore notified, that from today 16th March, 2020 all traditional meetings such as Mondays and Fridays visitation to the Palace, Traditional meetings, Traditional gatherings, funerals and festivals has been suspended until further notice.

It will gladden my heart if all paramount Chiefs adhere to this and act accordingly, to ensure public safety. The Council in collaboration with Ghana Health Service will soon deploy qualified personnel to go round and sensitize people within Savannah Region and beyond.

We must all act as watch dogs and each others keeper, report all symptoms to the appropriate quarters for further testing and examinations.
