Government Must Not Rule Out “Detractors” … in the recent fire outbreaks.

The Youth Activist Network (YAN) of the National Democratic congress wishes to express great concern and utmost worry in the recent fire outbreaks in some state institutions as well as public places. The recent fire incidence in the residence of the Former President Jerry John Rawlings and that of the Ministry of Information has raised much concern because it has become one too many of such cases in just one year.

It is indeed, in no doubt that the preliminary and some final investigative reports in most of the cases have indicated that it may have been caused by electrical problems and electricity inconsistencies, however we would be doing Ghanaians a great disservice if we continue to rule out the possibility of an arson and the possible involvement of detractors or for that matter saboteurs. YAN wants to be very emphatic that we have lost our allusion in the “coincidence” school of thought which have dominated public debate and further conclude that it may be one of the detractive strategies set by the NDC government’s saboteurs’. It has therefore become much critical that we tackle this fire problem with the alacrity it deserves before it gets out of hand. YAN is not too sure that Ghanaians have forgotten the carnage and the retrogression this country has suffered due to some group of people’s uncontrollable political libido for political power. As a matter of fact history recounts that in the days of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah the detractors undertook similar attacks to detract the government of the time. These attacks included open detonation of bombs in a public places eg. The famous kugunugu bombing; this led to the amputation of a very small girl’s leg at the time. This was amidst very calculated and consistent arson attacks at very critical state institutions. This caused a lot of panic and fear in the country and finally led to what we call the “betrayal of 1966”. In 1983 fire gutted most of the productive areas of this country and this led us into very tying times. As if that was not enough, it was followed by the Killing and dumping of women all over the country in the late 90’s. That was the era termed as “The Era Serial killing”. Today it is fire all over. Fire in market places, fire at the GES office, fire at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, fire at Ministry of Information part I & II, Fire at TOR, fire at Former President J.J Rawlings’s residence and fire everywhere. Indeed, we think is about time critical questions are raised. Why is it that these traumatic occurrences happen only and only when some particular groups of people are in political opposition, hmmm. “The evil that men do lives after them”. Is it not possible that the “so called” detractors had something to hide at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Information because their immediate past Ministers are being investigated for corruption? yoooo Is it also not possible that former President Rawlings’s house was burnt because former President Kufour has not got his 2 houses and multi-purpose office ex-gratia? oyiwa Questions could also be asked why TOR would burn especially some few months after securing regular crude oil supply and production has been regularized? Fellow Countrymen we cannot continue like this, the earlier we get answers to these questions the better. It is important that while we try so hard to fix the ECG “dum so, dum so” problem and rectify the GNFS resource deficiency, we don’t under estimate the role of detractors and their evil machinations. YAN would want to as a matter of urgency call on government to launch a full scale investigation into the fire occurrences and bring the perpetrators to book. We would also crave the indulgence of the National Security, the BNI, the CID and all the security institutions to help save this nation from destruction and retrogression.

Long live Progressive Minds!! Long live Ghana!!! Short live the Detractors of a Better Ghana!!!!
