Gov't did not bribe TUC to call off strike - Ofosu Kwakye

The Government has rejected media reports that it bribed the leadership of organized labour into agreeing to the 25 percent reduction in electricity tariffs.

It has described as unfortunate such claims.

Some unions within organized labour are insinuating bribery against TUC Secretary General, Kofi Asamoah.

They also say Asamoah called off the November 18 strike threatened by organised labour without consulting other union leaders.

But addressing the media at the Flagstaff House on Tuesday, the deputy Minister of Information and Media Relations, Felix Kwakye Ofosu said the government is surprised at the development.

“As far as government is concerned, organised labour which includes all the organizations that you have mentioned were adequately represented at the discussion table when these decisions were being taken and therefore it is quite surprising that we are hearing these dissenting voices within organised labour”.

Meanwhile, the government says it is on an aggressive drive to finish all ongoing road projects across the country.
