A former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Professor Stephen Adei, has slammed some government appointees for their blatant disregard for due processes.

His comments come after the former energy minister, Dr. Joe Oteng-Adjei, was accused by the minority of possessing two state-owned vehicles six months after leaving office.

Oteng-Adjei conceded to the minority’s claim, disclosing that one of the Lexus vehicles belonging to the energy ministry was returned on Tuesday, February 24.

Professor Adei told Starr News, “there seems to be so much deterioration in public standards of conduct of public servants and high office holders in recent years, and it sometimes baffles one’s imagination”.

He said “I think that there is a lack of integrity and accountability and moral standards seems to be falling so low that people are able to justify things that during our time in the public service you cannot even think about it let alone do it”.

According to Professor Adei something “fundamental which is totally out of tune with public service” has gone wrong, and measures must be put in place immediately to halt the impunity with which government officials loot state property.
