Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Joseph Yammin, has chastised Ashanti chiefs for not rising to fight for the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

He is angry people are bringing the good name of the Golden stool into disrepute in the name of politics.

The Deputy Minister, who was addressing NDC women organizers at a meeting at Adansi Asokwa over the weekend said, though he is not an Ashanti, he is scandalized by the disgrace being meted to the golden stool “all because of politics”.

A video of the Asantehene and President John Mahama dancing merrily to a local tune in what appeared to be a private party went viral recently, paving way for several unsolicited and mostly distasteful comments.

Joseph Yammin, emotionally charged, said, “if you don’t fight for Otumfuo, some of us will”.

He outlined past presidents who were friends; some who continue to be friends of Manhyia and asked what is different with President Mahama such that, people try to disgrace the Golden stool for having a relationship with the sitting President.

He says Chiefs must stand up and fight for the overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom because his glory reaches far beyond the shores of Ghana and asked to what end anyone would secretly film the Otumfuo in such a private moment.
