President John Dramani Mahama has given the assurance that government would revamp all the defunct state industries to revive business and make Tema the famous industrial city in Africa more vibrant than before.

He said apart from that, government would also construct an interchange at the Tema roundabout linking the motorway to reduce perennial traffic congestion at the area.

President Mahama gave this assurance on Monday when he addressed a rally at Tema Community two as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Greater Accra Region.

The campaign tour took the President to Ada, Ningo, Prampram, Kpone, Katamanso, Ashaiman, Nungua, Teshie, La, Arts Centre, Dansoman and Chorkor, while he would be expected to tour Nima, Maamobi, Madina, Adenta, Legon among other suburbs in the subsequent days.

The President said it was regrettable that Tema, which became the most industrialized city in the West African Sub-Region some years ago, was now a pale shadow of itself in terms of business and commerce.

He also promised to supply the Volta Aluminum Company adequate electricity to realize its maximum production that would create more job opportunities for the youth in the country and beyond.

On the elections, the President advised the electorate especially the youth to stay away from negative tendencies that could undermine the peace and unity the country had enjoyed over the years.

“Elections are not about wars or conflicts, but issues and programmes that can attract and convince the electorate to make informed choices,” he added.

He said the National Democratic Congress had over the years performed tremendously well to merit another chance in the upcoming elections on Friday and called on the supporters to stay focused and address issues that would convince more voters to their side.

President Mahama also promised to initiate a number of projects that would provide jobs and attract Ghanaians living abroad to return to the country to offer their support for the betterment of the country.
