Mr Kenneth Kwanin Obempong, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam has said the government would not pay for shoddy work by some contractor due to the financial situation in the country.

He, therefore, advised contractors to produce good work to ensure prompt payment.

Mr Obempong was addressing about 120 members of the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Contractors Association (AEEDCA) at a get-together at Ajumako on Wednesday.

The DCE said six semi-detached bungalows would be put up for decentralized heads who have for the years been commuting to work as a result of lack of accommodation.

He said the practice had adversely affected the smooth running of administration of the district.

Mr Obempong said special duty checkpoints would be put in place to check and control revenue and resources of the district assembly and called for unity and co-operation. Mr Kofi Anokye Maanu, Chairman of the association assured the government of their support and preparedness to produce quality work that would attract more contracts.

He called on Ghanaians to be patient with the government and contribute meaningfully to the zero-tolerance on corruption.

Mr Samuel Wilberforce Mensah, an executive member, called for mutual understanding and support from members and perform their work well for the on going projects to be completed on schedule.

The secretary, Mr Sampson Eduah appealed to members to contribute positively to the government HIV/AIDS awareness programme.
