It is still an offence to defecate at the beaches, cemeteries, drains and open spaces, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) warned the public.

It said in a statement that indiscriminate disposal of refuse in the city also constituted an offence and that any body arrested in any of those acts would be liable to prosecution.

"Residents are therefore advised to stop these acts with immediate effect to avoid unpleasant consequences", it added.
