The Central Regional Minister, Mr. Isaac Edumadze has on behalf of the government apologised to all those who got offended by the government’s decision to join the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative without adequate consultation.

According to the Minister, government has admitted that it failed to adequately inform the public about the HIPC Initiative before opting for it. He however attributed the government’s action to “limited time” and said “it was better to take bold decisions to survive in the future.” He therefore appealed to all Ghanaians to improve the economy and reduce poverty through the initiative.

Mr. Edumadze made these known when he addressed the Municipal Assembly and Heads of Departments at Cape Coast. He urged the Assembly members to identify the needs of the people and respond to them accordingly instead of engaging in partisan politics, which could undermine the development of the area.
