Esiama (W/R), June 19, GNA - Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, a Deputy Minister of Energy, said government was committed to making health care delivery accessible to all Ghanaians for national development. He said that government considers the citizen as the most important asset of the state and would continue to formulate sound policies to improve upon the welfare of the people.
Mr. Buah was speaking at the launch of a mobile clinic van for the people of Ellembelle District, in the Western Region, at Esiama. He said that the provision of the clinic was a fulfilment of his campaign pledge to promote health in the district. Mr. Buah, who is also Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, explained that the 1,000 Ghana Cedis facility, would serve as first aid, emergency health service provider to prevent diseases and maternal mortality and morbidity.
He called on the people to mobilise resources and initiate self-help projects to complement government's development efforts. Mr. Buah asked government officials in the area to seek the welfare of the people, saying "We as public servants must respond to the needs of the poor and underprivileged and support farmers, whose toil and sweat ensures food security for the country".
Launching the facility, Dr. Ahmed Zachariah, Director of Ghana Ambulance Services at the Ministry of Health, said that the initiative formed part of government's commitment to promoting health for national development.
He commended Mr. Buah for his contribution towards the provision of the mobile clinic.
Dr. George Adjah-Sipah Yankey, a former Minister of Health, praised Mr. Buah for his contribution to the development of the area, He and appealed to the people to support government towards the development of the area. The District Chief Executive of Ellembelle, Mr. Daniel K. Eshun said that the Assembly has allotted funds for the development of health in the area, and appealed to the Ministry of Health to support the Assembly to achieve its objective.
