A Deputy Minister of Information, Mr Baba Jamal, is seeking the support of the media

to promote the Better Ghana development agenda.

He says the media is very instrumental in the development agenda of the country and

should always play that role with perfection.

Mr Jamal was addressing journalists in Sunyani on Monday as part of his nationwide

tour aimed at enlisting the support of the fourth estate of the realm for effective

democratic development.

His tour has so far taken him to the Upper West, Upper East and Northern Regions.

He said government is ready to ensure developmental journalism instead of the often

concentration on political issues.

Mr Jamal said the Government has considered some media houses perceived as

anti-government in its activities and has even included most of them in the

President's foreign travels.

This,he said,is indication of government's readiness to deepen free press.

He therefore appealed to media houses which have been marginalised for one reason or

the other, to open up in the interest of national development.

Babal Jamal urged the Brong-Ahafo regional correspondent of The Chronicle, Michael

Boateng and the News Editor of Space FM, Francis Owusu-Ansah,who have suffered

unimaginable discrimination since the NDC came to power, to drop all their ill

feelings and work closely with the regional coordinating council to enhance the

image of the region.
