Government must educate public on negative effects of homosexuality

Accra, June 22, GNA - Sheikh Dr Amin Bonsu, Deputy National Imam of the Ghana Muslim Mission, has called on the government to step up education on the negative effects of homosexuality and lesbianism on individuals and society.

He warned that if government failed to take decisive action against the practice, the nation would suffer a reduction in the active labour force, low population drive and untreatable and dreadful diseases, and the consequence would be a drain on the economy.

Sheikh Amin Bonsu, who gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday, in Accra said; 93homosexuality and lesbianism are abominable acts, indecent, unhealthy and against the natural order of Allah as a major sin that invites the wrath and curse of Allah."

He said the worse that can happen to a nation with people involved in lesbianism and homosexuality was a curse and that both Islam and Christianity prohibits them.

The Deputy National Imam said the Ghana Muslim Mission would support any moves by civil society and government to halt its legitimization. He said measures should be put in place to educate the people against the practice.
