Mr Bright Botchway, an Aspiring Deputy Central Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on government to make public, details of the health status of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia.

The Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia was reported sick and flown to the United Kingdom to seek medical attention. This was contained in a statement issued by the Chief of Staff on Friday, 19th January, 2018.

This development has called for varying commentary on the health status of our politicians in the country especially those who occupies the highest office of the Land.

Among other suggestions, Mr Bright Botchway, an Aspiring Deputy Central Regional Youth Organizer of the NDC, believes that the health status of the President and the Vice President must be known by all citizens.

He explained in a statement released on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, that the statement from the Chief of Staff was not satisfactory and leaves doubts in the minds of many Ghanaians.

He stressed that "Ghanaians deserves to know exactly which sickness our Veep is suffering from. The Veep is a property of the state and such vital information must be made public and not shielded in secrecy".

Below is the full statement

I'm saddened by the rather unfortunate news about the health condition of our Vice President, Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia.

I wish him a speedy recovery and I trust that God will bring him back safely soon from the United Kingdom.

I am however astonished that the health status of a very important asset to the nation, such as the Vice President will be kept in secrecy by the Presidency.

The statement from the Chief of Staff leaves much to be desired. It smacks suspicions and doubts and perhaps the only cure to all these, would have been letting Ghanaians know the truth about specific ailment that our Veep is suffering from.

The Presidency must make public, the health status of the Vice President because it's very important to all Ghanaians.
