The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Letsa, has indicated government’s readiness to partner already existing factories in order to boost production and create employment for the teeming youth in the region.

He said government is in no way intending to compete with local companies but rather partner them in achieving a successful implementation of the flagship One-District-One-Factory project.

He disclosed this during a familiarisation tour of the Kingdom Premium Fruits Limited, an agro-based processing industry at Tafi, in the Afadjato South district.

Dr Letsa, together with the Afadjato South District Chief Executive (DCE), Edmund Attah, and other officials after touring the production house, assured the operators of Kingdom Fruits that government does not intend setting up parallel factories to compete with existing ones but will rather partner them to increase production in order to create more employment.

The regional minister also made whistle stops at similar factories including the kente-weaving enclave at Tafi and the Ministry of Agriculture’s pack house facility at Vakpo, both in the Afadjato South District.

Meanwhile, Felix Semavor, Chairman of Kingdom Group, has said Kingdom Premium Fruits, which began operations in 2007, currently employs about 200 workers with the aim of expanding in the future.

As a subsidiary of Kingdom Group Limited, Kingdom Premium Fruits produces mango and pineapple juice with the Volta Integrated Agricultural Development (VIAD) as its source of unprocessed fruits.
