Government releases funds for rehabilitation of roads

Breman Asikuma, (C/R), June 18, GNA- The Government has released about 14 billion cedis for the construction of roads in the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa district of the Central Region. Mr Sampson K. Anfako, District Chief Executive for the area announced this at the first ordinary session of the assembly at Breman Asikuma on Thursday.

He said the assembly has also provided enough funds for the rehabilitation of streetlights at Breman Asikuma and some parts of the district.

Mr Anfako said the regional tender board had awarded contracts to messrs Kwame Enyiah Company Limited, Big Aidoo Construction Limited of Accra and D,pong Construction Limited of Achimota, Accra and that work would commence early next month.

The roads are Kokoso-Brakwa-Ogonaso, Brakwa-Odoben, Breman Asikuma Township, Bobikuma-Kuntanse and Breman Baako- Assin Anyinabrem. The District Chief Executive urged the people in the area to support the government to continue the good work it has started change the lifestyle of Ghanaians.

On the Mutual Health Insurance Scheme, Mr Anfako noted that selected people have been trained to start work in the communities and urged the assembly members to give them the needed assistance. He announced that four unit classroom blocks are under construction in each of four communities, under the HIPC programme.

He said in order to entice teachers to accept postings to the rural areas in the district teachers quarters, are under construction at Tweredua under the third phase of the European Union Micro -Project. Mr Anfako noted that the assembly has approved more applications for sponsorship of teacher trainees who on completion of their courses would teach in the area.

The District Chief Executive commended the assembly members for their role in the registration of voters exercise. He advised various political party members in the district to conduct electioneering campaign peacefully to make this year election a success.

On the internet programme Mr Anfako said that preparation for the facility was almost completed and it would soon be commissioned to the public and urged educational institutions to take advantage of the facility.
