Government rewards 39 former career diplomats

Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, 20 December 2018, conferred special awards on 39 former career diplomats at a special ceremony in recognition of their service to the nation.

Some of the awardees served Ghana as ambassadors, ministers and deputy ministers of state, secretary to cabinet and chief directors, among others.

Dr Bawumia described them as "role models for our generation and generations to come."

Twenty-four of the awardees have passed on and were represented by their families at the ceremony.

Dr Bawumia, on behalf of the nation, expressed gratitude to them for their "dedication and support in promoting our foreign policy objectives for decades. We are truly proud of you."
