The Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) government must work hard to meet the demands of the Ghanaian youth and end the series of picketing in the country, Sammi Awuku, National Youth Organiser of the NPP, has said.
According to him, although there were several challenges left by the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, the current government must fix those problems.
He expressed optimism that the NPP government will find solutions to the problems and implement good polices to alleviate the hardship of Ghanaians.
Speaking at an event to mark the International Youth Day celebration in Accra on Friday August 11, Mr Awuku also charged the youth to take advantage of interventions such as the Planting for Food and Jobs that government is implementing.
He said: “Some few weeks ago the nurses had to picket the Ministry of Health, and we had to go and beg them. For how long can we beg them? I think our government must end the picketing so that they can also make ends meet.”
He added: “On the issue of the generality of the youth, I also want to urge the youth of our country to take advantage of governments bold initiative of this Planting for Food and Jobs...Let's open up and engage these stakeholders.
He admonished the NYA to provide more platforms to engage the youth in programmes that will improve their lives.
