Adansi-Atobiase (Ash), July 19, GNA - The government is to build an Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) centre at Adansi-Atobiase in the newly created Adansi South District. The move is part of efforts by the government to make information technology available to all Ghanaians, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, has said.

Inaugurating a block of three classrooms constructed under the Social Investment Fund (SIF) for the Atobiase District Assembly Junior Secondary School, he said the time had come for every individual in the country to be computer literate to be abreast with the modern world now controlled by technology.

He said the establishment of the ICT centre at Atobiase would also create employment for the youth in the area and would also enable school children to learn more about computers.

The Regional Minister said the centre would also serve as a training centre for Obuasi, Fomena and New Edubiase and that preparations were far advanced for the project to take off.

Mr Isaac Afriyie-Anim, chairman of the unit committee, appealed to the Regional Minister to extend electricity to the four teachers' quarters in the town that were not being occupied because of the lack of electricity.
