President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reaffirmed government’s dedication to the development of the untapped talents within the Zongo communities nationwide.
Delivering the keynote address at the 2018 Eid-Ul-Fitr celebrations held at the Independence Square in Accra, President Akufo-Addo disclosed that plans are underway to roll out a talent development programme for the Zongo youth.
He asserted that government will put measures in place to create a conducive environment for the Zongo youth to optimize their talents.
“We also aim to roll out a comprehensive programme that develops the talents of our young men and women in the Zongos. We want deliberately to establish the conditions that will allow our young talented Zongo youth to engage and develop their talents”, he disclosed.
According to President Akufo-Addo, sports icons such as Baba Yara, Dogo Moro, Mohammed Polo, Abedi Pele and Abdul Razak are products of Zongo, thus the need to unearth and harness the hidden talents in young men and women in the Zongos.
He reiterated government’s commitment to the welfare of the Muslim community, having recently inaugurated the board of the Zongo Development Fund chaired by Nii Futa, Chief of Nima and also embarking on several infrastructural projects in the Zongo Communities.
The National Chief Imam, Sheikh Dr Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, led the prayers after which he delivered his sermon. In his message, he admonished his fellow Muslims to continually fear Allah and submit to Him.
