Government votes 2.2 billion cedis for Sunyani-Odomase road

Mr Donald Adabre, Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, said this at a durbar of chiefs and people in his honour on Saturday.

He advised the people to bury their differences and pool their resources to accelerate the development of the town.

Mr Adabre said peace is the cornerstone of development in every society and therefore urged them to seek compromises on issues affecting them in order to move forward as one people.

The Regional Minister who is on a second visit to the town since his assumption of duty in the region seven months ago promised the people of his administration's readiness to provide social amenities to enhance their living standards.

Mr Adabre urged the people to support the government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to ensure more of such development projects.

On the people's request for a hostel for the local Odomaseman Secondary School (Odass), Mr Adabre promised to do something about it at the appropriate time.

Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, Sunyani District Chief Executive, spelt-out the functions of the unit committees as well as the town and area councils and urged the chiefs and people to give the members the needed support.

He assured them that a new market for the twin-town currently under construction was almost completed and asked interested people to apply to the district assembly for stalls.

In his welcoming address, Mr Daniel Aduse-Poku assembly member for Antipim electoral area, appealed to the Minister to use his influence to provide the community with a police station, access roads and a drainage system.

The durbar was attended by the two paramount chiefs in the twin-town -- Nana Akwasi Apraku for Odomase number one and Nana Kwame Korang the sixth for Awuah-Domase

The Frafra community presented a special chair to Mr Adabre to formally welcome him to the region.
