Government will fulfil campaign promises

Dormaa-Akwamu (B/A), May 21,GNA - Mr. Eric Opoku, Deputy Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister, has re-stated the National Democratic Congress government's unshakeable commitment to its campaign promises.

He said the government was on course to realizing the goals of the "Better Ghana Agenda" despite local and international pressures on its policies and programmes.

Mr. Opoku was speaking at the commissioning of an NDC party office at Dormaa-Akwamu in Dormaa-East District.

The building was donated free of charge by Tom Billy, a Dormaa-Akwamu citizen resident in France to help solve the accommodation problem of the party in the area.

Mr. Opoku stressed that every political party had its ideology and was therefore totally wrong for non-members of the NDC to conclude that the government had fallen short of delivering its campaign promises.

"In just 28 months of governance, there is no gainsaying the fact that the Mills government is on top of good governance laden with accountability, rule of law, respect for human rights and equity as promised before the 2008 general election", he said.

He said the current level of achievements by the government was indicative of a massive socio-economic turn-around by the end of its first term in office.

Mr Opoku commended the donor for the gesture and urged party faithful to follow such selfless and shining example by voluntarily placing themselves at the disposal of the party to help improve its fortunes.

He expressed surprise at the New Patriotic Party's claim to all development projects across the country, adding the claim was part of that party's "usual cheap campaign propaganda" aimed at leading Ghanaians to repeat the mistake they made in the 2000 elections.

Mr. Osei Owusu King, NDC secretary, thanked the Mills government for extending several development projects to Dormaa-Akwamu and gave the assurance that the local executives would work to win more members for the party.
