Government will support you - Bawumia tells family of slain cop

Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has pledged government’s support to family of the police officer who was murdered in the Lapaz shooting incident.

Dr. Bawumia made this promised when he, together with the Interior Minister, Ambrose Dery and the Inspector-General of Police, David Asante-Apeatu visited the bereaved family to commiserate with them Tuesday July 25, 2017.

According to Dr. Bawumia, government will do its best to support the widow and the entire family to ensure the deceased is given a decent burial.

“On behalf of the president, I’m here to console you and to assure you and the family that the state is not going to forget you. We’ll be very supportive throughout the process of the funeral and everything. We’re going to be very supportive in looking after you and the family,” he disclosed.

On Thursday, July 13, General Constable Daniel Owusu was shot and killed by armed robbers in broad day light at Lapaz in Accra.

The Police Constable together with another colleague, Constable Djibril Alhassan who were on patrol duties, were reportedly apprehending some suspected armed robbers when they were gunned down by the criminals.

The incident led to the death of Constable Daniel Owusu leaving Constable Djibril Alhassan in a critical condition.
