Govt to supply textbooks to private schools

Awutu–Ofankor, Aug 8, GNA – The Government would from the next academic year begin supplying text books to private schools to enable them to play their expected roles in the provision of quality education to Ghanaians children.

Mrs Rose Abbiw, Awutu Senya District Coordinator of Private Schools, announced this at a Speech and Prize Given Day of the Good Shepherd International School at Awutu Ofankor.

She said the printing of books had begun and distribution would start in earnest to ease the problem of purchasing text books by parents.

The Coordinator said: “The Government is committed to the supply of text books and would never neglect or discriminate against private schools.”

Mrs Abbiw pointed out that the government would continue to improve education through private sector partnership.

“We are all witnesses to the present trend of education which demands commitment from the various stakeholders to bring about the best quality of education,” she said.

“Private institutions must, therefore, continue to improve upon their services for the realization of the mission.”

Dr David Nana Larbi, Member of Parliament for Awutu-Senya, assured the management of Good Shepherd School that everything possible would be done to get assistance from GetFund to improve their infrastructure.

The MP, who is also a member of the Parliamentary Select-Committee on Education, commended Bishop Kweku Addae for establishing Church, School and orphanage to render laudable services, especially for the needy.

Prizes were given to deserving students, teachers and non teaching staffs.
