Accra, Nov. 27, GNA- The Stewards of Grace Incorporation, Ghana, an inter-denominational musical youth centred group, would organise a musical concert to launch an orphanage support project dubbed "Akyedie Ben 2004" on December three, in support of orphans and abandoned children in the country.
Mr Daniel Ohene Aidoo, the President, who announced this at a press briefing in Accra on Saturday, said Stewards of Grace Incorporation, was inspired to undertake the mobilisation of financial support for orphans countrywide because unlike other vulnerable groups, they seemed to have no voice.
He said 'Akyedie Ben', literally meaning 'what kind of gift' is a special musical concert to bring gladness to participants, release joy to orphans, and abandoned children and raise funds to support their livelihood.
Mr Aidoo said the concert would be held in collaboration with the SOS Ghana, and that this year's proceeds would be given to them in support of basic needs of the children under their care while subsequent ones would be given to other orphanage throughout the country. Established in 1995, The Stewards of grace Incorporation has been involved in schools and community crusades/missions work, intercessory projects, prayer camp meetings and 'house of worship' projects. Mr Aidoo therefore, appealed to the public to support the programme either in kind or in cash to assist them realise their goal of giving the children hope and confidence.
Mrs Gina Asare Fiagbenu, Head of Public Relations and Communications, SOS Ghana, expressed appreciation to the Stewards for involving them in the project. She said although SOS, Ghana, would be 30 years next month, they still depended on foreign donors for support and other needs of the children.
She said the launch would create the awareness for the public to willingly donate to support the unfortunate children, whom out of no faults of theirs found themselves in such sad situations.
