Weija (GAR), Aug. 27, GNA - Nii Armah Ashietey, Greater Accra Regional Minister has embarked on a two-day working visit to some government agencies and communities within the Ga South municipality.

In accompany of Mr. Sheriff Otto Doodoo, Ga South Municipal Chief Executive, he visited Obom, Domease, Ashawah, Honi, Akweiman and Danchira.

The agencies visited included; Weija Water Works, Irrigation Project at Tuba near Kasoa and the newly constructed clinic at Oblogo near Weija.

Addressing the staff and people, Nii Ashietey urged the assembly to endeavour to work towards the elimination of the shift system in schools in the municipality, because the system did not augur well for the pupils deprived of valuable studying hours and equip basic schools in the area with the needed infrastructure and logistics.

He appealed to the assembly to work hard to generate more revenue for its socio-economic activities and not depend solely on the assemblies' common fund which sometimes delayed.

Nii Ashietey called on the MCE to be humble, bring the staff on board in the day-to-day running administration of the assembly and be transparent in his administration.

Mr. Doodoo commended staff of the assembly for their hard work that had improved revenue mobilisation and expressed concern about the deplorable roads within the municipality.

He called for government's intervention in the border dispute between the assembly and Awutu Senya District Assembly in the Central Region.

Mr. Doodoo said the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) had stopped using Weija as its landfill site and the assembly had acquired a new landfill site at Domease.

Opinion leaders in the communities visited appealed to government to provide them with boreholes, places of convenience, Senior High Schools and good road network.

At Danchira, Nii Asietey commended security personnel stationed in the community to maintain peace and order.
