On the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration on Sunday 8th March 2020, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General, Beatrice Agyemang Abbey, sent best wishes to all women across the globe.

The Head of Ghana’s leading Media Company expressed her confidence in the attainment of global gender parity in the shortest possible time considering the great achievements recorded around the world in a drive to create equal opportunities for all.

“I wish to take this opportunity to salute all women around the world and to my African sisters in particular, I wish them the very best in all their endeavors. Without a doubt and as African women, we face grave challenges coupled with traditional practices. This has in no way deterred us from going for our dreams”, she emphasized.

The Group CEO further called on all women to embrace the concept of active participation at all levels of decision-making and the incorporation of women’s perspective. “Let us not get confortable and complacent with the successes we have achieved over the years, rather, we need to strive to make a meaningful contribution in our various societies”, she added.

The theme for International Women’s Day 2020 is, I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights. It is aligned with the UN Women’s new multigenerational campaign, Generation Equality, which marks the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
