A group within the Progressive People's Party (PPP) says it wants the party’s 2012 presidential candidate, Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom to run for the slot again.
'Volunteers for Nduom' says its members "learnt with great enthusiasm that the PPP has opened nominations" for the flagbearer slot, and are ready and willing to advocate the leadership of the successful businessman.
It will be recalled, the group said, that its members have been clamouring for Dr Nduom to run for the presidency again.
"We believe this is the right time for Dr Nduom to show his face; Ghana needs him now to salvage this nation from its dwindling fortunes.
"Our reasons for calling on him have been for the fact that Ghana and the PPP will be missing a golden opportunity of having an industrious, efficient and effective leader if Dr Nduom is not given the chance to lead the PPP again, and to lead the nation for the next four years," a statement signed by the group’s National Coordinator Richard Nii Amarh said.
"In view of this, we wish to call on all our members to get ready for action. For on any day that Dr Nduom decides to pick his nomination form, we shall be at the party head office in our numbers to give him a rousing hail," the group added.
It said: "While welcoming any individual within the PPP who shall be interested in this race, we wish to state that this race shall be a 'cool chop' for Dr Nduom. Our network of volunteers across the nation has laid down a solid foundation upon which his campaign shall be run. We shall not only end it there, but we are also prepared to work harder to make sure that Dr Nduom beats President John Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming 2016 elections."
