The maiden Accra edition of the Guinea Fowl Bazaar, held under the theme “Experience the North in the South,” has successfully wrapped up after two days of vibrant cultural displays and rich culinary experiences.

Organised by Faith Catering Services in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority, the event took place from May 1 to May 2, 2026, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park.

Prior to its introduction in Accra, the Guinea Fowl Bazaar had been held in northern Ghana for seven years, steadily growing into a major cultural and culinary event. Its expansion to the capital marks a significant step in bringing northern Ghanaian heritage closer to a wider audience.

The bazaar attracted a number of dignitaries and notable personalities, including Akuka Albert Alalzuuga, George Dassah, Failatu Abdul Razak, popularly known as Failatu Cookathon, and Angelo Dogbe.

The event created an immersive northern Ghanaian experience in the heart of Accra, showcasing a variety of cultural elements that drew large crowds over the two days.

A major highlight of the bazaar was the display and sale of guinea fowl, a staple delicacy from northern Ghana, which attracted food lovers eager to taste and purchase the bird in different forms.

Visitors were treated to free servings of popular northern dishes such as porridge and wasawasa, adding to the festive atmosphere and allowing many to experience authentic northern cuisine for the first time.

The cultural aspect of the event was equally captivating, with performances from various ethnic groups showcasing traditional music, dance, and customs. These performances not only entertained but also educated attendees on the rich and diverse heritage of northern Ghana.

The atmosphere throughout the event was lively, colourful, and deeply rooted in tradition, as patrons engaged with exhibitors, enjoyed local delicacies, and participated in cultural activities.
