The man at the centre of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) contaminated blood saga has said he has been sidelined by the probe.

Mr Evans Kwabla Addo, about a week ago, took to social media to vent his anger at the management of the hospital for allegedly selling two units of HIV-, Syphilis-infested blood to him for a transfusion procedure on his sick mother.

The authorities at KATH re-tested the blood and said they tested negative.

Two more confirmatory tests are to be done on the blood under the supervision of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in the presence of the complainant and the hospital’s representatives.

However, Mr Kwabla Addo told Moro Awudu on the Executive Breakfast Show (EBS) on Class91.3FM on Thursday, 13 December 2018 that he has been excluded from the probe, a situation he believes can compromise the outcome.

“I was only involved till the time I saw the blood being taken to the Military Hospital, and also when the KATH results were out. Nobody called me, at least, it will be only fair to inform me that we did the KATH test and this is the results.

“I only heard [the result] in the media and here and there. I want to state it clearly that the news out there that I’m part of investigations and that I’m in Accra with the blood assisting investigations, please, I disassociate myself from that. Whatever they are doing, I’m not involved.

“My only involvement was up to the point that they took a sample. I’m not involved in any investigation going on and since then, I’ve not received any kind of call from anybody. The only call I had was from the police. I asked for the agenda, I sent a message and there was no reply. The next morning, the investigator called me to come [and I decided to go but not to talk because they didn’t give me an agenda of what we were going to talk about]”.
