Chaos broke out at the Hajj Village in Accra Saturday morning as prospective pilgrims demanded answers from the Hajj Board for delay in their flight.

The prospective pilgrims who were supposed to be airlifted this morning vented their frustrations on Hajj officers with some accusing them of incompetence and lack of proper planning.

Explaining the reason for the flight postponement, a member of the Pilgrim affairs Committee said the flight took off few hours after resolving the misunderstanding between Hajj officers and pilgrims.

The last batch of prospective pilgrims is expected to be airlifted to Saudi Arabia on August 20th.

The 2018 Hajj officially begins on Sunday August 19 to Friday August 24, with three million Muslims expected to gather at the Masjid al-Haram (Grand Mosque) in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

Thousands of pilgrims from Ghana have arrived ahead of time at the Kaaba, Islam’s holiest site, inside the Grand Mosque, to pray.
