President John Dramani Mahama during his media encounter in connection with his first year in office at the Flagstaff House, dismissed claims that his vice president, Mr. Kwesi Amissah-Arthur is incapable of steering affairs of the country in his absence and openly lauded his credentials.

According to him, he has always trusted the capabilities of the Veep whenever duty calls for him to travel outside the country or to take his sabbatical leave.

But critics of the John Mahama-led NDC government have oftentimes described the soft-spoken Amissah-Arthur as a “dull” deputy who lacks political charisma.

One of such outspoken critics of the Mahama-led government and former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Maxwell Kofi Jumah, claims in spite of the public adulations heaped on Amissah-Arthur by President Mahama, plans are underway to sideline him (Veep) in 2016.

According to him, barring any unforeseen circumstances, Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Minister, Hon. Hanna Tetteh will be asked to substitute the incumbent vice president on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign platform in 2016 as Mahama’s vice president.

“I have heard that Hon. Hanna Tetteh has been penciled as the running mate of Mahama in 2016. They (NDC) will bring her on board in 2016. They want to dismiss the man (Kwesi Amissah Arthur), and that is the latest grapevine news making rounds,” the controversial Kofi Jumah said on Adom FM.
