The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Rashid Tanko Computer, has condemned the assault of a pharmacist and a customer at a pharmacy, reportedly located within Burma Camp in Accra, by a soldier.
He described the incident as ‘animalistic behaviour’ and called on the military high command and security services to take swift action to ensure accountability.
Speaking on JoyNews AM Show on October 30, 2025, Tanko expressed outrage over the viral video that showed the soldier in civilian clothing, physically attacking a pharmacy worker and a customer.

“He can’t get away with this animalistic behaviour. We won’t allow this thing to slide, not at all. The military high command must up its game and ensure this does not happen again,” he stated in reaction to the viral video.
Eyewitnesses say the altercation began when the man demanded a refund of GH¢65 for medication he had earlier sent a boy to purchase.
When the attendant reportedly explained that drugs could not be returned, the man reportedly became furious and returned to assault them.
In the video, the man is seen slapping a female customer before punching and striking a male worker several times.
Tanko said the attack reflects a broader issue of discipline and accountability among individuals associated with the security agencies.
He emphasised the need for the military leadership to act decisively to restore public confidence.

He added that conversations had already begun among relevant authorities since the incident occurred, stressing that “a lot of things are going to happen” in response.
