The Madina Magistrate Court Grade One, on Wednesday, fined the Headmistress of the Madina-Zongo Faith Community Baptist Junior High School, ¢720.00 for the insanitary conditions at the school's lavatory, or in default face two months' imprisonment.

The court presided over by Her Worship Mrs Margaret Mireku, also ordered the school authorities to demolish the defective toilet facility by Saturday, October 11.

Mr Lambert Kwara, the Environmental Health and Sanitation Unit of La-Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly, told the court that there were complaints from aggrieved parents about the insanitary conditions prevailing at the school, where pupils have defecated with abundant flies hovering on top of faeces.

Mr Kwara said the school authorities were cautioned several times, but they refused to comply with the warnings. He said the situation was contrary to Section 296, sub-section One and Two of Act 29/60 of the Sanitation Law.
