Damongo (Northen Region), 15 Sept.,

Damongo (Northen Region), 15 Sept., The West Gonja District Chief Executive, Mr. De-graft Safo has urged heads of decentralised departments to ensure that all their projections and developmental activities are in line with the district's medium- term plan. He said there is the need for a collective support by all workers to enable the district assembly to play its expected role of enhancing development. Mr. Safo made the call when he met with heads of decentralised departments, boards and corporations and educational institutions at Damongo. He said the government's programme of decentralisation which lays emphasis on grassroots participation in decision- making and development, poses a challenge which calls for contributions from all. Mr. Safo said the problems of inadequate office and residential accommodation is soon to be solved by the district assembly with the construction of junior staff quarters and some bungalows while the early completion of the assembly hall complex will ease the office accommodation problem of the district. Mr. Safo advised the heads to learn to share the few amenities at their disposal with other departments which are ill-equipped and warned that the head of any organisation which performs below expectation will be sanctioned. The district chief executive assured the heads of departments and the people that he will ensure transparency in his administration and called for suggestions and dialogue on all matters. Mr. David Waawula, the district agricultural extension officer on behalf of his colleagues, assured the district administration of their active support and cooperation in the discharge of its duties. Mr. Albert Bugri Seidu, district coordinating director appealed to the Veterinary Services Department, district health management teams and agricultural officers who have the data and statistics of both human and material resources of the district, to assist the assembly to draw up comprehensive estimates of such resources to ensure accurate revenue collection and development of the communities.
